Theatre Access Course

All you ever wanted to know about operating theatres but were afraid to ask!

This course is designed to prepare all medical representatives for visiting and working within the theatre environment.

The aim of the course is to provide candidates with the knowledge and skills required for them to perform their work role without compromising on patient care or safety.
The course has been accredited by the Association for Perioperative Practice and was the first one in England to receive this endorsement.
Program:
The course is divided into theoretical and practical sessions, held in classroom and theatre settings. It is delivered by expert educationalists and senior operating department practitioners. The theory sessions include theatre etiquette, who’s who, Principles of asepsis and theatre layout. The practical sessions include a tour of theatres, wearing theatre attire, social hand-washing, checking and opening sterile equipment, creating and maintaining a sterile field, and surgical scrub and gowning up.
Assessment:
To achieve this award all candidates need to pass the multiple choice question paper taken at the end of the course.
 

Courses are based on a minimum of 6-12 candidates at £345.00 per candidate.
